Our ongoing series include:
Introduction to Osteopathic Medicine Generally held the 1st Wednesday of the month in Portland. This is an ongoing and open conversation led by Al Turner, DO with demonstrations intended to explore questions such as: What is Osteopathic Medicine? How is it similar to MD medicine? How is it unique from all other forms of medical care? What is the purpose in practical terms? What is the Osteopathic Advantage or is there any? Plus, many other questions which you may bring to the conversation. Generally held the 2nd Tuesday at COMP-Northwest in Lebanon, and the following Thursday in Portland. These events include a different topic each month and are designed to assist students interested in pursuing a career in, or learning more about osteopathic medicine.The Osteopathic Awareness Night is dedicated to pre-med students interested in pursuing a career in osteopathic medicine or those curious about the medical profession and health care issues. OPSO, along with various DOs, residents, medical students and those associated with the osteopathic profession, volunteer their time, expertise and knowledge to provide educational opportunities ranging from the history of the profession to mock medical school interviews. Once a year OPSO offers a hands-on activity with support from residents and medical students. Reviews of medical school curriculum as well as critiques of personal statements and application information are valuable tools as you navigate the various steps to pursuing a career in osteopathic medicine.
All events are free of charge and open to the public. OPSO asks that you register via our website so that we may ensure seating is available for everyone.
